A New Name... New Hope?

SETSI and Friends Toastmasters was struggling. For starters the current set of officers were too busy with other things, and they were making SETSI a second priority. It hurt, but I, too, was busy with HOLA - and I had done my part with SETSI as it's Immediate Past President. I still attended, but I noticed the neglect

This was Spike's term but he, too, was focused elsewhere.

In one meeting, it was suggested that maybe part of the problem for the club was it's name - others might be wondering waht SETSI is (yes, it's a acronym), others say it lacked a good come one name. So we decided to rename. Anotehr reason, SETSI itself was not being used as a facility anyway, and it's owner was also too busy to renew his SETSI TMC membership. So remane it we did. From SETSI and Friends, we gave it a new name... Silangan (Eastern) Toastmasters. Hopefully, this newe name would attract more people. Heck, I even made a teaser for the club, as shown here. It would be the last thing I did for Silangan. I simply reasoned out that I had transfered to a much farhter place (from Manila to Cavite) and Marikina was just too far for me now.

Silangan got a bit of a shot in the arm when another club in trouble (Rise Up Toastmasters) could not find members, so they decided to give up their club, and just join Silangan. By this time, I also decided to cut ties with Silangan and just concentrate on Diamond and HOLA. Why? I did not feel appreciated in Silangan - whereas in HOLA, I was helping a lot of Toastmasters. I broached this concern with Director Dan Agapay. Apparently, he eventually noticed the 'non-focus' too.

Carrying Silangan was hard and difficult, while HOLA was easy. It was a no-brainer to decide to stay in HOLA. I did not need two clubs in the same Division, anyway. Besides, Silangan could not complain about my departure... duing my term as Presidnt for SETSI and Friends, I did guide it to being a President's Distinguished club.
